Some of us remember

May 16, 2008,08:56 AM

It is because of PuristS with long-term memory that the name of Harry and Ronald Winston cannot be erased.  Like the arch logo derived from the original HW building.

I hate to count myself as an "old-timer" but I remember the face of HW was always Ronald Winston when I first heard of the watch division, albeit in the charge of Max Busser when HWRT was at it's zenith.

Obviously, during the acquisition in 2006 and beyond, everyone involved had to sign all sorts of binding "non-disclosure and favourable press" agreements.....for the money. It is only now that we can see the reasons for the most talented personnel leaving and the downshift in horological "gear" at HWRT.

Thanks SJX for the review.

Regards,

MTF

much (although the name is kinda scary in its own way), but I am sure that one of the brothers did not say 'geez, I have this really nice private equity group willing to back me and that is why I have to kill you' (figuratively of course). You allude, but...

As another poster mentioned above

Running Harry Winston in a less commercial way requires a different strategy and value system. I must admire the new Harry Winston for the commercial success that it is and will be, but as Purists we all want something more noble don't we? - SJX

A great read...

Nothing is as it once was. Nothing was as it will become.
