More BIG pics on the Z4 and some answers

Regarding Z4, I think it is the coolest of the Oceans HWRT developed..yes the shiriken star was a part of legacy ..no doubt. It is good that HWRT does keep history, even contemporary ones..with Max Busser.

Z4 was inspired by ... Opus 1, the chronometer a resonance with the 2 counters. That is what HWRT wanted for a watch for travellers. But different and more modern. So this Z4 was a first for HWRT in many ways.

1) They mastered the module concept, so much like Journe did with the Octa. So the idea really came from one of their many ingeniors and was further developed with Agenhor. It was more flexible for HWRT's team to master the development experience and also further down the line the assembly of such a module. As an example, this is how they managed to put the symbol of the Ocean, the Shuriken, where HWRT wanted in such a tight space.

2) Technical meets with aesthetic design. It was the first time for them to use the design around the technical elements. This is the 3D dial. The fact of having different shades of black and a real depth gives a dynamic visual involvement with the watch and the wearer.

3) The base movement, GP is quite small. You will see a plain back case on the Zalium pieces but open asymetrical one on the gold versions.

4) The thickness of the watch is quite good also as thinner than the Z1.

So finally, the ideal travelling watch, with 2 time zones, with 2 night and day indicator and a vertical date, the date was missing in Z1.

Ordered a grey dial Z4

By: takashi (registered) Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Just FYI, there is only going to b 25 grey-dials available for Japan (where I live). They told me to wait 6 months to 12 months! I bought it because I love the 3D dial, watch is anonymous, is light and got a runner strap (for the humid summers), and pictures on this website were just too much to take! Was going to get the black dial but after staring at various photos for a couple of days, I realized I had fallen in love with the grey. Not sure what they meant, but HW shop told me that Grey was salon-only model, whereas Black was the non-exclusive model (and triple production volume). Hope this was of some interest.
